Intellectual property is not a valid form of property.
You can own things that are scarce in the universe (AKA Media). An idea or a pattern (AKA Data) is infinitely replicable and therefore not scarce.
If the intellectual property was true, every time you used a word, you would owe a royalty to a linguist.
Every note in western music would be owned by the person who first discovered it.
Case in point, if a farmer finds that growing potatoes, then watermelons, then corn maximizes his yield, it would be theft to steal his potatoes, watermelons, and corn. It would not be theft to use your OWN potatoes, watermelons, and corn in your OWN field.
coming up with an idea or making a thing doesn't give someone exclusive or partial control over another's property. to assert the opposite is a performative contradiction since that person wouldn't be able to use language or money without contradicting the ideal of IP.
